Greenie

I could not find a safe place to hide my new greenie. The kitty steals everything I love and I'm NOT letting her have this! The hoomans are not helping by videotaping me hiding the greenie either!

We Moved!

We moved to Short Pump! Its only a two minute drive from Momma and Poppa Dee's house (my favorite place in the entire world!!!!) Our new house is so much bigger and I get to go outside on the porch WITHOUT a leash.

We also packed up Daizy Bean and moved her too.

Snuggie for Dogs

I totally need one.

Live your life like a dog.

From an e-mail:

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker 's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, 'I know why.'

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation.

He said, 'People are born so that they can learn how to live a good Life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?' The six-year-old continued, 'Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long.'

So live like a dog.
Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Be loyal. Be forgiving.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried deep, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and cuddle them gently.
Enjoy every moment of every day.

Hanging out with Daisy the Hound Dog

She dragged me across the floor by my face.
She tried to intimidate me.
BUT I fought back.
AND I won in the end because I can humiliate her on the interwebs. MUWHAHAHHAHAH

Mmmmm grass

I've decided to give up dog food for grass. I've been collecting grass on my walks outside and spitting it all around the house so Steve and Erin know that I want to become vegetarian.

You would think they would get the hint:

Happy Birthday to ME!

I turned 1 years old yesterday!!! (well 7 in dog years) Erin and Steve took me to Three Dog Bakery at Stony Point Mall and let me pick out a toy and some treats. Then Erin bought me a swanky new collar (which I'm not too fond of.... I chewed the last one up for a reason). Here's some photos from my special day:

The BEST part of my birthday: I had a sleep over at Momma and Poppa Dee's house with my best friend Moo Cow. I wish my birthday was everyday!

BTW:
I would not get the Biscotti from Three Dog Bakery. My tummy does NOT agree with cinnamon. I'm gonna stick to my Dingo bones.

The Critter Cottage Fashion Show

We had a bar-b-que, refreshments, adult beverages for the hoomans. Jerky, treats and water for us four-leggers. We met many new friends and then had our fashion show. Here's a few pictures.... good times were had by all.

Meet my NEW cousin.... Daisy the Hound Dog!

This beautiful, little lady is Daisy the Hound Dog! AND I already LOVE her! My Aunt Ginny and soon-to-be Uncle Nick just adopted her from the SPCA. I can't wait til she's big enough to romp with like Moo Cow... she's almost as big as me at only 2 months old.

Her name will be SOOOO easy to remember because my sister is Daizy with a Z... my family needs to get a little more creative with names. Looks like we are starting another name trend... my dad, grandpa, and uncle are all named Steve.

I think I might name every I know Gus. This is my ball, his name is Gus. This is my tomato plant, his name is Gus. Oh my food dish is also Gus. And my mom calls any furniture chewed up "Damnit Gus!"

Rivah Dog

The past few weeks I have been swimming in the James River at Huguenot Flat Water, Pony Pasture, and James River Park. There's nothing like taking a hike on a warm day and cooling off with a little swim.... even if I make Steve and Erin get in the river with their clothes on because they are afraid I'll be sucked up by the current. Just call me GUS THE RIVAH DOG!

If you would like to check out my swimming holes...

Jealousy

If you read my blog you might have noticed that I have been slacking at updating on a frequent basis lately. Daizy is a jealous, no good kitty that has held my 'puter hostage for the last couple of weeks.

I have since taken care of this "issue" by locking the kitty up in the closet. Thank you Steve and E for getting the new storage unit, I can use the freed up closet space to hide bad kitties.

Super Model

I have been scouted to be a model!!! I will be in the Critter Cottage's doggy fashion show next Thursday. Erin bought me these sweet new threads to wear.... who's excited?! This kid.

I am learned!!!

I graduated my obedience class at The Critter Cottage today! I have learned to sit, down, stay, come, roll over, shake, wait, and how to walk on a leash. What my humans don't know is that I've known how to do this all along... I speak human.... DUH... I only do it at the class because they mix my food with hotdogs, starve me for days, and threaten corporal punishment if I don't pass.

Me and Casanova (yes that is his name and he takes offense to nicknames) graduated top of our class BUT he may be number one if wearing crazy pants makes you smarter. I am glad my mom and dad did not dress me like this:
Casanova and I with the food lady... wait, I mean teacher:

TP is a powerful drug...

I couldn't stop myself... yet again. Daizy just feeds my addiction. One of the hoomans left the toilet paper with reach again and Daizy threw it onto the floor. Next thing I know the toilet paper is in tiny little bits and I've inhaled way too much. Erin took some photos to shame me.... its not a joke, its a problem.

It's HOT outside!

Do you know what the temperature is outside?! And the humidity?! Today was 93 degrees and it felt like 98 degrees. My hoomans think its still fun to walk around the apartment complex and play outside… I now know that they are CRAZY!!! Can’t they see I’m black and I’m wearing a fur coat? Sure they cut off a lot of my hair… but I STILL have hair. Someone please tell Erin and Steve that I want to stay indoors. I’ll even give up the dogpark for a bit… Momma and Poppa Dee’s house has dogs AND a/c.

Until the nice weather returns, I’ll be at my water bowl, enjoying the a/c and the cool water.

Barker Field Goodness

I LOVE Barker Field by Dogwood Dell! I met up with Lanie and Moo Cow and played with all my friends. We played catch, stood on tables (because we can't do that at home), and chased each other until one of use squealed. I've been going about twice a week to get in a good workout.

It's kinda embarrassing but I play in the small dog side... I think the wolves of Barker Field want to eat me. The second I get in the door the pack of wolves sniffs me out and I think they plan together how they will enjoy me as a meal. AND Erin's boss had to get rabies shots after breaking up a fight at the park... Erin hates shots SO I'll remain happy on the small dog side. Below are pictures of my buddy Dominoe the Dachshund and my best friend Moo Cow.
